| This is a hybrid among butterfly types. It
is a cross of Onc. Butterfly x Onc. papilio. Onc. Mendenhall is
probably the most outstanding hybrid of the butterfly types. This
is our first awarded orchid! The foliage of this orchid is extremely
heavy and mottled. It is an attractive plant even without flowers.
Grow it with your phals, except in a clay pot. Just like the papilio,
do not cut off the flower spikes as they will continue to flower.
These oncidiums (now called Psychopsis) like to be pot-bound, so
there is no need to repot frequently. |
